A smart solution to a familiar challenge.
I opted for making a similar solution to that on the P430, where the trash can is integrated in the galley workbench.
My project was fueled by me purchasing a new cooker that turned out to be 7cm wider than the old one, resulting in a total re-build of the galley area. (Yes, the thought of returning the cooker and sourcing a narrower one DID briefly cross my mind)
I have also increased the size of the over-bench cabinet, made a new shelf above the refrigerator, a cup-holder rack on top of the upper most shelf and put in some LED lightstrips to improve the worklight in the galley area
We are quite pleased with the end result, and I think I will adapt your idea to make a container for empty bottles and cans.
