«Thank you for your email and details of your lifejackets. Spinlock are a manufacturer and we make every lifejacket to order here in the UK. We then sell the lifejackets in wholesale quantity to a single wholesaler in each country and this wholesaler then sells to shops and trade in their country. When we make a lifejacket we ship it with the longest possible expiry on all parts, but the clock starts ticking the moment it leaves Spinlock. It is then the wholesaler and retailer responsibility to rotate and sell this product so that the consumer ends up with as long as possible on all dated parts.

We would expect the lifejackets in store to have an expiry of around 2.5 years on the dated components.

I would suggest either returning the lifejacket to the retailer explaining you unhappiness at the dated parts as it their responsibility to manage this. Alternatively as a gesture we could send replacement parts, but you would need to fit these yourself.

Kind regards
XYZ
