English: Propeller for FM Type L2

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

Does anyone here in this forum have experience how to pick the right propeller for a boat?

In some weeks I will get my FM Type L2 with about 18 HP /1.500 rpm as far as I know. I want to put him in a open boat, which is about 15 feet long.

Now the question is, what kind of propeller I have to look for.

Thank you in advance for any useful information.

Greetings :flag:

Hello Tobias!

You can find a "propeller-calculator" here: https://baatplassen.no/i/index.php?showtopic=22298

Tobias,

You really ought to stick to the original propellor shaft and propellor for FM.

Personally I favour the adjustable pitch variety, which makes manouvering very easy.

Do you have a "gearbox" unit attached to your L2 engine? If you have the reversing handle and so on already in place, then all you need is a propeller shaft.

In another post to you I have recommended you get in touch with Petter Fagerli who stocks all the parts you need:

Alternatively, if you're interested, I think I have a spare FM propellor shaft complete with propellor lying somewhere in the garage...

Best regards

Colin

Hi Colin

Again thank you for your answer.

My L2 has got a gearbox. My Sabb GA has also pitch control but I do not have experiance with this.

My L2 has 12 HP /1100 rpm and I now found a propeller from a Marstal Engine(Denmark/ Aerö) which has 10 hp / 1100 rpm. So this propeller will fit more or less.

What kind of Propeller do you have 2 or 3 blade? What diameter is it and what would be the price?

What I really would need is a manual in English!

Best regards

Tobias
