English: Methode for conserving a old SABB diesel?

Conserving a enigine for storage, I recently bought a 1967 Sabb 1 Cyclinder for spare parts

The engine has been fitted for years in a lifeboat and is a bit rusty.

 

My question is: What is the best methode for conserving a old diesel, to prevent further detoriation of the engine?

First of all: Clean out all oil in the crankshaft housing, and refill with fresh new oil. Take out thr start cigarette holder, and give it 5-6 pumps of oil into the cylinder. Then take off the valve cover on top, and oil the valve mechanism thoroughly. Turn the engine round with the decompression handle open a few turns to distribute the oil. If you want to do even more, spray the outside of the engine with for instance CRC's 6-66.
