First time buyer, daycruiser, max 21 feet and 100k (sorry for the English)

Hello all,

Firstly, sorry for the English, I'm from the UK and am not so good at the skriftlig part of Norwegian.

Anyway, I was thinking about buying a small boat for day tours and maybe some fishing, but I know nothing about boats and I wonder if someone can provide me with some tips.

Firstly, we are looking at spending around 100.000 for a daycruiser type boat that can sleep 2 people and sit 6, it doesn't need to go mega fast, but fast enough that we can pull a waterskier. I've seen one on Finn ( https://www.finn.no/80445426).

Does this seem ok? Should it rather be bensin? What are the problems we need to look out for?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

P.s

we have a hut with a boathouse that can take a boat about 21 feet long and 7 foot wide that we can store a boat in, so that's that.

Cheers

Welcome on the forum, and good luck on your hunt. I tried to find the ad you referred to with no luck.

As you have limited experience with boats in general, I would recommend outboard engine on a daycruiser. Something like this?

You probably know that you can create a search on Finn by boat type, prize, size, engine, location etc. Should be some objects to look into. Service history on engine is always good. Has the boat hit ground at some point? Why do the seller want to sell it, etc.

When you find something of interest, post the link as ask for comments. Not all in here wants to reply in English so be patient with us:-)

Bayliner is ok. American which has improved in quality over the years. As most producers have.. Outdrive has had a rebuild, that is good. Engine is a known installation, I do not have first hand experience with that one.

Outboard is cheaper in service in general. It is easier to steal, but if you keep in a locked shed, you should be well protected.

This boat is sold through commision, but "Selges for kunde" probably means that the original owner is responsible for any information, errors or other issues.

10 years old, check all wires and connections. Chech the hatch for leaks.

Check insurance price for this boat so it won't come as a surprice.

Then there is always the oportunity to make a bid...

American boat manufacturers have had a tendency on focusing on more outside space (seats, sun bed etc), while Norwegian/Scandinavian boat builders have had a tendency to reserve more space (than the Americans) for the below deck facilities.

My guess is that this is because Americans use their boats more for day trips, while Scandinavians use their for weekends and sleep overs. Thus an American boat more often than not have larger outside areas and smaller below deck space compared to a Scandinavian boat.
