Østre Bolærne

 Hei, en av de første gjestehavnene jeg vil besøke neste år er østre bolærne, blir det travelt og vanskelig å få plass? må man bestille på forhånd? jeg er ny på å besøke steder med båt :) har også brukt google translate så jeg beklager hvis det ikke er riktig

Do you still have the Sea Ray you mentioned in an earlier post? If so, you should have few or no problems securing a place at Østre Bolærne. It's harder for the bigger boats (and sailboats), as there are fewer berths for these. I don't think you can book/reserve in advance at Østre Bolærne, but there is always room for one more boat. 

 

It may (emphasis on "may") be easier to get a berth if you arrive when the overnighters leave to move to their next harbour before noon, or when the daytrip boats leave for home in the afternoon. But we have always found a spot, no matter when we have arrived with our 38" sailboat. It's just a matter of circling for a while or just drop anchor for the day if you have a dinghy to get ashore.

 yes i have the sea ray, i dont have a dinghy but i would think getting there around 11 ish so sounds about right, just one more thing, do you have to pay to stay for some hours or just for overnight? not a problem i just dont want to not pay when i am supposed to, thankyou for the answer anyway its good to know and be better prepared

I'm not sure, as we have always spent the night. The harbour crew go their round at 2000 hrs and collect the harbour fee for those who haven't already paid. So a day visit is free, I think, as long as you leave before 2000 hrs. Someone will surely correct me if I'm wrong.

If you take a look at this picture, you can see how the bigger and smaller boats are distributed throughout the harbour. Your boat can dock anywhere, the bigger boats are usually restricted to the two outer, floating jettys due to depth restrictions.

i do plan on being overnight anyway i think unless im just showing some family from England some time but yes i see the picture and im sure i can work it out and hopefully take many visits

Last time I went there you only had to pay for staying overnight.

Just one more question sorry, the orange boyes in the picture which the boats are anchored to , are they there already for you to tie off to?

yes, you find them at Google earth:  old picture, the pier have got dividers  on the inside now, so only 'longside' on the outside.

As @Code0 said, the bouys are already there. Your boat would have no problems with any of them. Our 38 foot boat has just enough room. Just make sure you have a long enough rope to use at the stern, from boat -> bouy -> boat.

 

When you get there, chances are that you will have boats on both sides already, so you can hold on to those while you secure your stern rope. If everything else fails, secure your bow and swim out with the stern line (or borrow the neighbouring boat's dinghy or stand up paddle board). We're only talking a couple of meters at most.

 

And remember - everyone will help you if you ask. Most of us will stand by even if you don't ask. ;-)

That sounds great and makes it feel more relaxing instead of worrying, I spent many years driving a truck over the whole of Europe and it was the same kind of thing, it makes it so much easier 😊 Thankyou

Østre Bolærn guest harbour have a webcam so you can look for vacant places while approaching the harbour.
