Want to learn sailing, deckhand in Oslo area?

Hi,

I'm an English speaker and would like to ask all of You to guide me where(which forum, topic) should I post my question.

I really would like to learn how to sail so I figured, I could be a great deckhand and learn everything from basics on deck if anyone would like to show me how does it work.

I'm 30, quite fit and handy so I hope I could be helpful on deck during learning the know how.

Hi,

I would have contacted a local sail club and asked to become a crew member on the local regatta. That is good learning for a potential sailor.

If you inform where in Norway you live I am sure there are people her that can advise you about clubs.

Hi Maupa, and welcome to this forum (the best boat related forum in Norway, if not Scandinavia).

 

As Sail S writes, let us know where in Norway you are located, and I'm sure you'll get god advice.

 

Pretty much all yacht/sail clubs ("seilforening" in Norwegian) arrange open club regattas once a week. Tuesdays, wednesdays or thursdays are most common. These clubs are usually very interrested in recruiting new sailors by inviting them on board as rookies on the week day regattas. You'll learn a lot about practical and theoretical sailing in a short time, and if you are lucky you may quickly get a position on board a boat on a regular basis.
