Hello, where is the best place to get a weather report along the coast from Tvedestrand to Holmestrand? and what would be considered a bit risky for a motorboat and driver with only experiance with just a 20 foot boat driving around the port to this 27 foot boat planning about 80 kilometre stretch in one go? i would split the whole trip from Tvedestrand to Holmestrand into 2 days stopping at Langesund along the way and planning this trip very soon :)

Regarding weather reports and forecasts, you will probably be within cellphone range and able to use internet. There are numerous sources.

One alternative solution is to use YR.no, since they offer an English language parallel service.

From Tvedestrand you can sail in sheltered waters until Lyngør, then you will have to sail in open waters until Risør (this includes Sild, which can be rough), then out in open waters again until Portør, if windy you can sail north og Jomfruland and Stråholmen, then open waters to most of the way to Langesund. Then you sail to Stavern, then you will have to pass Rakke and that can be rough too, then you can sail sheltered by Nøtterøy until Tønsberg.

 

Inside the "search" in YR, can you store key places and easy check wind speed, wind direction, precipitation+++

 

Key places will be: Lyngør, Portør, Svenner, Torgersøya++

 

If you share what kind of boat you have.. it will be so much easier to give valuable advices for such a trip.

its a 27 foot sea ray from 1986 but the engine is newer and is fully serviced and its also had the gimbal bearing replaced and the impeller replaced, it has been with agder marine since i bought it in november, i am hoping the weather is good enough to get to langesund this sunday then stay there for a few days, my stepson will be traveling with me then he has work on monday so ill wait till he can come back and the weather is good enough

The weather is the best today.
Sunday looks good with an early start.
Point to the arrows and the beech height will appear.-
