Boatporn! :)

What exactly product did you use for the tails? What epoxy paint?

Thanks! I am doing a project myself and need epoxy paint on the lower engine parts..

Here`s my engine so far..

Plan is to paint it black with "ghost" decals..

It`s a Yamaha 250vx 76degrees racing model..

The brands are SHIPCOAT for satin and base layers.

ands HEMPEL for the gloss coat

with removing the antifouling, revealed another problem.

bilde

Cleaning with thinner or remover, the blue coating became soft and started to blister.

The blue coating was not gel coat but a two component paint. So now the whole backside

have to be cleared from all the paint until the polyester is clear and a new gel coat

have to be applied.

But the rest continuous. It started to look like a boat again.

Unfortunately I am still not satisfied with the result of the aft. so it needs some additional work.

in the mean time made some coverlids  for the spoiler(targa bar) bilde

And the first version of the dash control panel. But I always get the feeling that I forget something.

With the numerical keypad a code is send to engine controller. You can hot wire the whole ignition/key circuit but without the code the system does not start the engines.

Since I have still old engines the Choke buttons are still necessary for me. The second screen, everybody can recognise.

Svart (redigert)

Making progress with the tails with help of my brother.

So it looks like it can happen by the end of this year.

Also checked out how Lenco trimtabs control panel is connected.

So here it is. the signals are quite easy to create.

bilde

And also the searchlight SL135 jabsco under investigation. The control panel is not really a beauty, so the cable is cut and these are

the connections

yellow+/  blue-      = clockwise

yellow-/   blue+     = counter clockwise

green+/   brown-   = up

green-/    brown+  = down

Like the trim It is now integrated in the dash

Today replaced the steering bushings.

Unfortunatly I didn't find a video, how to do it.  Newones in is not a problem, but how to get the old one out. due to corrosion.

But we managed.

Of the seals, I never found the remains of it so they were really gone.

Sometimes it is one step forward then 2 steps back.

So it was in this case. Both drives were set and ready. However I could not secure the steering rod. So

I had to take everything off.

It gave me just enough space to secure the steering rod.

So now with a delay of a week or so the drives are completed including the pivot pin with its split pin.

In between the old trims are replaced by lenco's electric trims.

It has some advantage. there will be no oil leaks. and lesser a pump.

I could say it is better for the environment but really.... with 2 x 7.4L engines....mmmm.

That is some truly great work you are doing, giving new life to a modern classic! Keep the pictures comming!

Fantastic, have to follow this!

Thanks guys. I always try to stretch the limits with what is possible. There are still so many ideas.

like a

-G-force measurement.

-app for remote start/stop by mobile phone.

-Fuel/Cruise control and measurement

-??

So if you have ideas please write them down. I like to experiment.

NMEA2000 fuel flow meters would feed perfectly into the Raymarine plotter. As the plotter already has speed from it´s GPS, it can show fuel consumption as litres/nautical miles as well as litres/hour. And if you set it up with fuel capacity and tell it when you top the tanks, it´ll give you range based on remaning fuel and current consumption.

Add an NMEA2000 AD-converter to your fuel tank metres, or change to NMEA2000 fuel meters and the Raymarine should be able to estimate range based on actual fuel levels as well.

Yes I have been thinking about that. If I do it I will be doing it without the Raymarine So I keep every task separate. Raymarine for radar and gps maps.

My centre display would be ideal for estimate range. since I have already CANBUS message for fuel level, only the fuel flow is required together with speed which is also already a CANBUS message.

With 2 engines I need two flow measurements. I saw that one is too small for the fuel consumption that could go up to 230 litres an hour with 2 engines full speed.
